Nothing can ruin a trip to the beach more than a jellyfish sting. Not only can they be very painful, but depending on the jellyfish, they can also be deadly.
You’ll need more than a bit of sunscreen to protect you during a day out, so these tips will hopefully keep you sting free.
Know your beach
If you are driving down the coast and you see a beautiful empty beach. You might be inclined, or even find it irresistible, to run down the sandy heave and have a swim. However, do you know how safe that beach is? If it’s 100 percent safe than why are no others there? Someone might know something you don’t. It’s best to only swim at beaches that are protected by lifeguards.
Patrolled beaches will have notifications of when there is an increase in jellyfish in the area. These warnings can be in the form of coloured flags or signs. If there is no visible warning, you can always ask the lifeguard on duty. Lifeguards are also prepared with the right tools to help treat a jellyfish sting and, of course, can help you in any emergency. Best to stay on patrolled beaches.
Safe Sea Lotion
You might already have on sunscreen, which is a must, but there is a product that many still don’t know about that’s anti jellyfish. Safe Sea Lotion is designed to help minimise a jellyfish sting. It won’t help if you knowingly go into jellyfish infested waters, so some jellyfish awareness is still needed.
The lotion also doubles as a highly effective sunscreen so it’s the only lotion that you’ll need.
